On Monday we decided on the font we are going to use and the name of the magazine, we also decided on some cover lines we might use.

- From the magazines I have analysed I have found out that my magazine will probably include a lot of music based articles. 
- They tend to have a busy structure and a lot of things going on at once, this is to normally attract the readers attention. We could use an array of colours as this also attracts attention. 
- Student magazines could also include topics such as fashion, music, festivals, books, films, TV, universities.
- From my research I have found that my magazine should probably be aimed at 'Radicals' or 'Hedonists' because teenagers often like to feel individual and have fun.
- Magazines normally have a popular celebrity personality as the CVI on the front cover.
- Magazines often have adverts inside the magazine.

Student Magazine Research

Teen Vogue is aimed at a teenage audience (mainly female) which is implied by the masthead. The audience would normally be between the ages 16-19 as they are generally more interested in fashion. The use of a serif font in the word 'VOGUE' connotes sophistication. I think the magazine would of used this because teenagers want to be associated with sophistication. Although a lot of teenagers prefer a sense of chaos and an anarchic feel.
The picture boost in an image of Kirsten Dunst looking straight into the camera, leaning on her hand. She is wearing minimal make-up and relaxed clothes. This is because teenagers generally think of natural beauty as a good thing.
They have tried to make the content teenager friendly by making the content relevant 'phony IDs, real trouble'.
The pink text further reinforces the fact that the main target audience is girls as it connotes femininity.

'CAMPUS LIFE' looks as if it is made by a student possibly doing the same task as I am. You can tell this because of the way that the wob's are awkwardly set out, a real publisher would have taken care and attention to make sure the front page was perfect e.g using the golden ratio.
The magazine is obviously made for university students because of the Title of the magazine (masthead) The CVI is a photograph of Dallas Green, the photo looks slightly desaturated which could connote sophistication but in this instance I think it gives a more grungy feel because of the clothes Dallas Green is wearing. The bands that are named in the headline don't fit into the 'pop' genre, they draw a more select audience. This gives a feel that the magazine is actually aimed at Radical's.

NME magazine is traditionally aimed at the Rock, Indie and Alternative scene. The dominant colours on the front cover are black and red. This connotes masculinity and boldness. The CVI is a photograph of Alex Turner and Miles Kane stood back to back. This gives the impression that they have maybe came together and put their music together. The photograph has a lot of noise and looks quite grainy. This adds to the old school rock feel of the magazine.

My First Blog Post

I'm Tom, I don't really read magazines very often although I do sometimes read Empire or NME. I like listening to all types of music from The Smiths to Crystal Castles. I enjoy all types of films, one of my favourite films is The Pianist.
