Main Task - Outfits

Simply i have decided that if i choose a girl as one of my models she will be wearing a simple black dress. And if my model is a boy he will be wearing formalwear (suit or tuxedo) 

i have came to this conclusion because from my research i have found that this is typical of classical music magazines and would make my own seem more realistic

Main Task - Props

I have considered various classical instruments for my props. The ones i have selected would be easy to get hold of and easy to photograph. 

Main Task - Location 1

Instant thought for location would be a photography studio which is set up in one of the media rooms at college as you can achieve good lighting and high quality photographs. This is a good choice for my magazine because i want the CVI to be focused on the model and props rather than the scene surrounding them

I have considered these potential models for my magazine. I have held meetings with each model and they have all agreed for their photo to be taken for the magazine.

I've chosen several potential masthead fonts, they are all serif fonts because I think that a classical magazine should have a font which conveys a feeling of sophistication.

BBC Classical Music Magazine

The text used for the masthead is a serif font, this connotes sophistication and gives the magazine a more majestic feel. This also suggest who the target audience would be for this magazine because sophisticated serif fonts are primarily used for magazines aimed at a more mature audience.

The CVI of this magazine denotes an older middle aged man holding a composers baton, he is wearing a black and white tuxedo which connotes proffesionalism and again further reinforces the idea of sophistication. Because of the clothes he is wearing it also represents classical music listeners as being of a higher class, this is a dominant ideology which is not always true. Although this does show that the target audience for this magazine is C1/B/A on the Jicnars Scale.

On the front page there are several WOB's, these make the text stand out above other text on the page, with this magazine cover the WOB's are somewhat blended in with the CVI in the background. This evokes a feeling of fluidity with the style of the front page.

On the front page of the magazine the top part of the CVI overlaps over the masthead, this suggests a degree of informality although other parts of the front cover suggest formality for example the serif font and the clothing of the composer. The magazine is sending mixed messages.

The image is photoshopped so as his head is reflected and rotated twice behind the original image. This gives a feeling of movement and makes the image feel 3 dimensional, it almost 'comes off the page'.
